Michael's Crafts had these lap trays on sale for $4.99. I bought paint pens and stencils and created 2 really cute Christmas gifts for two really cute girls. I filled the side pockets with Princess coloring books, crayons, stickers, silly putty, and pencils pouches. It's a great gift to give to kids that already have everything!

7 Weeks until Christmas!

Christmas is just around the corner, 7 weeks to be exact. Surprisingly, I have already begun to shop for my family and friends. Check out this website http://www.thesilvergoose.com/
I have ordered a few things from them over the past year, and plan on ordering a few pairs of the round silver monogrammed earrings for some people on my list. If you love monogrammed jewelry, this site is great!

New Fabric and Burp Cloths

Lucy's bug shirt
Finished shirt: Zig Zag stitched around bug to prevent fraying
Applique has been ironed onto the shirt

I created a bug shirt for my niece Lucy who just so happens to love bugs. I used the same material that I used for the burp cloth and sewed it to a cute white t-shirt from Target. I think it turned out pretty darn cute! I think for the next one, I want to find softer fabric, because when you apply the heat n bond, it creates a stiffness to the applique. Next up, a cupcake t-shirt made out of pink and brown polka dot fabric and pink rick rack.

Cute Burp Cloths
I have been adding ribbon to burp cloths for a while now, but wanted to try something different. I have discovered heat n bond and found that I love it, although I have a tendency to get it all over my iron and ironing board. I created a bug and bird out of cute fabric and ironed them on to the burp cloths. Then to prevent fraying, I zig zag stitched around the edges to create a more finished look. I need to create an eye on the bird and maybe add some ribbon to both, but so far I think they look cute! I also plan on doing the same thing to onesies and t-shirts for toddlers.

My First Zipper Project
From start to finish, this bag took me 2 hours to complete. Yes, 2 hours! I have never tried to sew a zipper before and I think it went pretty well. There are some things that I will do differently next time, but for my first bag, I think it turned out great. I went to the fabric store and bought 2 different fabrics that worked well together, one for the outside of the bag and one for the liner, as well as a matching zipper. I found a great tutorial online from http://www.artsycraftybabe.typepad.com/ and voila! I have this great bag to hold makeup, change, etc...Next up, cute appliqued T-shirts for my cute niece!

1 Year Anniversary
My husband and I just celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past Sunday. In between studying for his finals, he took me out to a fabulous dinner Saturday night. He graduates from his MBA program this Saturday and both of us couldn't be happier. Now that he will have more free time, I can finally get him to build my website, luluandlily.com. I have lots of projects I want to start on, so hopefully by this weekend I will have a few completed.

Introduction
After seeing how cute and creative my niece's blog was, I thought I would give it a try too! My blog is named Lulu and Lily, which is also the name of my etsy shop as well as my online baby boutique. Both are under construction currently but hopefully in August I will have both up and running. Both sites will feature baby gifts such as: burp cloths with grosgrain ribbon, baby blankets, cute onesies, Dipes and Wipes case, ribbon belts and more. One day I would love to make a living sewing and creating baby and toddler gifts. I'm determined to make this happen. Off to Alexandria, VA tomorrow to visit my sister, brother in law and niece. It's a 5 hour drive from North Carolina, but luckily I made it to the Library to check out some books on CD to help make the trip fly by.
