Lucy's bug shirt
Finished shirt: Zig Zag stitched around bug to prevent fraying
Applique has been ironed onto the shirt

I created a bug shirt for my niece Lucy who just so happens to love bugs. I used the same material that I used for the burp cloth and sewed it to a cute white t-shirt from Target. I think it turned out pretty darn cute! I think for the next one, I want to find softer fabric, because when you apply the heat n bond, it creates a stiffness to the applique. Next up, a cupcake t-shirt made out of pink and brown polka dot fabric and pink rick rack.

Cute Burp Cloths
I have been adding ribbon to burp cloths for a while now, but wanted to try something different. I have discovered heat n bond and found that I love it, although I have a tendency to get it all over my iron and ironing board. I created a bug and bird out of cute fabric and ironed them on to the burp cloths. Then to prevent fraying, I zig zag stitched around the edges to create a more finished look. I need to create an eye on the bird and maybe add some ribbon to both, but so far I think they look cute! I also plan on doing the same thing to onesies and t-shirts for toddlers.

My First Zipper Project
From start to finish, this bag took me 2 hours to complete. Yes, 2 hours! I have never tried to sew a zipper before and I think it went pretty well. There are some things that I will do differently next time, but for my first bag, I think it turned out great. I went to the fabric store and bought 2 different fabrics that worked well together, one for the outside of the bag and one for the liner, as well as a matching zipper. I found a great tutorial online from http://www.artsycraftybabe.typepad.com/ and voila! I have this great bag to hold makeup, change, etc...Next up, cute appliqued T-shirts for my cute niece!

1 Year Anniversary
My husband and I just celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past Sunday. In between studying for his finals, he took me out to a fabulous dinner Saturday night. He graduates from his MBA program this Saturday and both of us couldn't be happier. Now that he will have more free time, I can finally get him to build my website, luluandlily.com. I have lots of projects I want to start on, so hopefully by this weekend I will have a few completed.
